HOW DO YOU START A GARDEN FOR BEGINNERS?
Don’t think of the garden as just planting food or flowers. Go deeper to grow the perfect food and flowers for you. My designed background has taught me that if you take the time to plan your outdoor space and garden, you will create a memorable space that you will want to be part of daily. That connection is immeasurable because it is a big part of who you are.
Once you understand exactly why you want to garden and your needs; it could be to deal with depression, a connection to someone you lost, a memory of the happiest moment or as simple as the need to physically connect to the soil, the earth and nature.
You will know where you are coming from, and finally realize what you need every space function will be identified. It is a matter of connecting the dots and what you need to grow and bring a sense of fulfillment to your life.
I began my garden from scratch, nothing but grass. My needs changed as the years passed, but I always understood what I needed from it, the foundation. I needed a healing Oasis.

WHAT SHOULD I PLANT ON MY GARDEN FOR BEGINNERS
With the many options out in the market on what we can grow, it is sometimes overwhelming to know what to concentrate on. Start with the easy vegetables and flowers to grow from seed so you can learn the process and save money.
Nothing wrong with buying seedlings, I have done it and it is just as fulfilling to see the food grow and use it as part of your meal.
A few of my favorites for the beginner gardeners are; Salad greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, Kales are amazing!, snap peas, beans, zucchini and sweet peppers. These are all pretty straightforward to grow from seed and they will provide you with an amazing harvest.
When it comes from flowers to grow from seed, include in your garden the ones that the pollinators love, edible flowers and others that works as great pest deterrent; nasturtiums, calendula, marigolds, sweet peas and zinnias.
The food I always enjoy growing, because of ease of direct sowing, are radishes and carrots. Carrots are so much fun to grow because of the variety in the market. You will love growing them!

WHAT A BEGINNER GARDENER NEEDS TO KNOW?
A successful garden is the one that works for you and not the one that looks good to others. Details are important when it comes to a garden; soil, sun, drainage, climate, pests, etc. But at the end of the day, if you planned your garden and designed it for success, gardening will be ideal and just right for your family.
