How to make easy flower arrangements? Choosing the right flowers and vases, adapt your creativity to your budget, learn what flowers go together, how to use color, how to use scale of flowers and incorporate texture to create more impact.

Easy Flower Arrangements

I have been out for a little bit with my family having COVID. We are doing better and slowly recovering. I have missed everyone so much and had to share the post, I had began right before we all became sick, and had to put it on hold. I am so excited to finally share this post with my two favorites, flowers and spring colors! Thank you to everyone that prayed for my family, I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate your kindness.

Creating easy flower arrangements like nobody else’s!. Learn the key things to look at when composing your home decor. Choosing the right flowers and vases, adapt your creativity to your budget, learn what flowers go together, how to use color, how to use scale of flowers and incorporate texture to create more impact. Let’s explore each one and create a beautiful setting!

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT FLOWERS FOR EASY FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS

When looking at the flowers you are going to choose, think of it in 3 steps:

  1. Select the large scale flower that will make the statement on your arrangement. This is the flower that will be important to select first and others will complement it.
  2. Select a couple of medium flowers that will create a balance to the arrangement.
  3. Finally, select your infill, such as babies breath or textural infill.

HOW TO ADAPT YOUR CREATIVITY TO YOUR BUDGET

The cost is always driven by the size of your flower arrangement and the vases you select. The main thing to consider is whether the vase is the important statement or the flowers will be more important and balance the floral arrangement to match the budget.

Another thing to keep in mind is that this is diy is a great one to use older flowers you have. The shorter stems will make the flowers last longer. I am always trying to make flowers last as long as possible.

Sometimes I try to stretch them a little too long. All of the sudden my mother will appear in front of me with new flowers from the garden telling me to let them go. LOL! I get the message. They are my babies and it is hard to let them go.

WHAT FLOWERS LOOK GOOD TOGETHER

Quit worrying about what exact flowers go together and get what brings you joy!

Here is a list of some of the flowers I will be using and work very well together!

  • Thistle Eryngium Blue Flowers
  • Billy Ball dry Craspedia
  • Dianthus barbatus ‘Green Ball
  • Golden pincushion splendour
  • Babies breath
  • Orange Rose

For other impact flowers you can consider using:

  • Peonies
  • Anemone
  • Roses
  • Ranunculus
  • Dahlias
  • Hydrangeas
  • Lilies
  • Orchids
  • Sunflowers
  • Calendula
  • Strawflowers
  • Hyacinths
  • Asters
  • Zinnias

All of these you can grow in your own garden and enjoy them in beautiful and unique flower arrangements.

HOW TO USE COLOR WHEN CREATING A FLOWER ARRANGEMENT

The main thing to consider is whether your vase will be your feature or your flowers. If your vase is colorful, keep your flowers in a neutral and textural scheme. When you have an understated vase, play with the colors and create bold combinations.

HOW TO USE SCALE OF FLOWERS FOR A FLOWER ARRANGEMENT

On this specific flower arrangement diy, the length of the arrangement is what creates the impact.

Simple flower arrangements for tables, you may go tall or wide with your design. Make sure that you select a clear direction that comes across and make the flowers the star.

HOW TO INCORPORATE TEXTURES OF FLOWERS FOR MORE IMPACT

Cheap flower arrangements are filled with textural infill. I hate the word cheap, so let’s say that you can create an affordable and beautiful modern flower arrangement that has the most beautiful infill flowers and create softness, dimension and interest. Here are some to consider using:

  • Yarrow
  • Veronica
  • Lady’s Mantle
  • Coral Bells
  • Gypsophelia
  • Ferns
  • Eucalyptus

LET’S CREATE OUR ARRANGEMENT!

1. Select your vase material

For this arrangement I have decided to use glass. Create a real statement with the shape and flowers display and let the vase be what guides the shape.

2. Materials

Materials for Table Flower Arrangement

  • Glass Vase
  • Flowers (see above for list)
  • Water
  • Water Dispenser
  • Flower Snippers

Materials for Console Arrangements

This is not part of this table flower arrangement on this diy, but I wanted to show you how you can compose a story. On the back console you have a forest, simple greens and branches. The table display becomes the flowers found in the forest; color, light and textures that showcase how life stretches from the forest foundation.

Think of flower arrangement ideas no different than the way you decorate your home. Create a vision, a story that comes across.

  • Glass Vases with different shapes, heights and sizes
  • Branches
  • Green; different types of Eucalyptus, babies breath.
  • Candle Votives
materials

Also keep in mind, that you can make the arragements with dry flowers. We have so many available that we can use today and look so real. Look around for things that will work in your home.

3. Arrange Vases on Linear Shape

Arrange you glass vases in a linear fashion with about 1/2″ to 1″ gap.

Vases

4. Fill vases with Water

Fill up each of the glass vases with water to be a third all the way up. Use a water dispenser to carefully fill them and make sure that they are exactly at the same level.

Water dispensing

On a simple flower arrangement, the details are very important.

5. Begin Placing Flowers

Decide how the flowers will alternate by creating a cluster that repeats. The highlight is the yellow color for this modern flower arrangement, this is highlighted on the placement.

Remove all of the leaves to make the flowers last longer, but more because this is all about the flower itself and it’s simplicity.

6. Alternate the Flowers

As you place the flowers, alternate color, scale and textures. If you place a busy flower, the adjacent glass vases should be simpler and more sculptural.

Example 1: On the image above you can see that a busy flower is next to the simple more sculptural one that also provides a punch of color, creating a highlight that makes the blue/purple color come out more.

Example 2: On the image below the blue flower is next to a simple rose or the green round shape one.

7. Add the Soft Texture

We are almost there! Add the soft texture like babies breath or one of the ones mentioned above. This will provide some softness and fullness to the arrangement.

Small flower arrangement ideas

8. Know when to Stop!

Step back and look at the full arrangement and add flowers where you feel it may need an additional one. The most difficult thing to do is know when to stop and allow this arrangement to be simple, elegant and sculptural.

Easy flower arrangements

This is part of the fun! Explore your artistic side and play around to find what suits your space.

Enjoy the process!

CREATING THE STORY!

I continued the design on the back console. Create a story and makes the backdrop to your simple flower arrangement.

Take a look at the you tube video to learn how to create this beautiful forest inspired console Decor and the colorful one above. Watch how they come together!

Sometimes we overthink making a flower arrangement or we go back to what we already know. Try something new, create your own vision, unique to your style.

I know what you will do is going to be amazing and I hope you share it with me!

Stay Creative my friends.

I love the idea of smaller glasses or vases. A grouping can make a bigger impact than a huge arrangement. And easier to do.
