  • Cutting Board
  • Zester
  • Bowl

Ingredients
  

  • 170 g Ground Cherries Weight is with the husk included
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Zest
  • 5 g Chives
  • 1 tbsp Balsamic Glaze
  • 50 g Red Onion
  • 1/2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/4 tsp Sea Salt
  • 1/8 tsp Black Pepper

Instructions
 

  • Gather Ground Cherries
    Ground Cherry Salad with Husks
  • Peel Ground Cherries. Discard the ones that are spoiled
    Ground Cherry Fruit
  • Wash Ground Cherries thoroughly.
    Ground Cherry with Flowers
  • Dry Ground Cherries thoroughly.
  • Chop Red Onion small and uniform and add to the Cherries.
    Ground Cherry Onions Chopped
  • Chop Chives small and uniform and add to the Cherries.
    Ground Cherry Chives
  • Zest a fresh Lemon. Use of fresh lemon, the zest will get bitter as it gets older.

  • Chop the zest very small and add to the Cherries.
    Ground Cherry Salad Ingredients
  • Add Sea Salt.
  • Add Black Pepper.
  • Mix all dry ingredients together.
  • Add Balsamic Glaze and mix.
  • Add Olive Oil and mix.
  • Mix it all together and garnish with Chives.
  • Add a lemon wedge in case you want a little squeeze for acidity.

Notes

  1. Try to have all the ingredients chopped small, so that one flavor does not overtake the bite.
  2. Do not substitute Balsamic Glaze with Balsamic Vinegar.
  3. The reason for making this a single serving recipe is that you may be harvesting the fruit and may not have enough for more that one serving at the moment. 
  4. This will provide a quick and delicious recipe to use your ground cherries that you don't eat right off the plant.
